The “Peking University-Golden Feather Advanced Battery Joint Laboratory” Held its Opening Ceremony

On the afternoon of December 8, 2023, the opening ceremony of the “Peking University-Golden Feather Advanced Battery Joint Laboratory” was held in the Conference Room 137 of Integrated Science Research Center, Peking University.

Cai Ning, General Manager of State Power Investment and New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Han Hualong, Director of Jiuzhi Capital, General Manager Huang Dubin and Director Li He of Zhejiang Golden Feather New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Liu Deying, Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Peking University, and Zheng Ruqing, Deputy Director of the Office of Science and Technology Development, Peking University, as well as Zou Ruqiang, Li Ming, Zhou Huanping, and others from the School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), Peking University, were in attendance.

In the speech, Zheng Ruqing highlighted Peking University's active pursuit of organized scientific research innovation and achievement transformation. She emphasized the Office of Science and Technology Development's commitment to innovating mechanisms and design to facilitate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Zheng Ruqing commended the achievements of MSE and stressed the significance of Golden Feather as one of the most important investment projects of the Science and Technology Achievements Transformation Fund of Peking University. She expressed the hope that the joint laboratory would effectively merge basic research with corporation needs, harnessing the strengths of both parties to drive technological innovation and industrial upgrading of the new energy.

In his speech, Cai Ning emphasized that the future development and breakthroughs in the new energy industry rely on continuous innovation and experimentation. As the world's largest new energy power generation company, the State Power Investment Corporation Limited is committed to providing demonstration sites for the implementation of relevant technologies of the joint laboratory. Cai Ning also expressed the company's anticipation for deepening cooperation with Peking University across various fields in the future.

In the speech, Han Hualong expressed his hope that both parties would utilize the platform of the Peking University-Golden Feather Advanced Battery Joint Laboratory to achieve breakthroughs and innovations in scientific and technological research and the transformation of research achievements. He also emphasized the importance of expanding industry-university-research cooperation projects in the field of new materials. Han Hualong stated his commitment to further and more comprehensive cooperation with MSE in the future.

Liu Deying delivered a keynote report on the innovation and entrepreneurship of the students of Peking University. He highlighted the remarkable achievements of the students of Peking University in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. In addition, he emphasized Peking University's commitment to leveraging the research achievements of university to bring cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements to the market. He noted that Golden Feather New Energy Company, as an entrepreneurial team originating from universities, embodies the spirit of scientific and technological innovation. Furthermore, Liu Deying expressed the company's aspiration to utilize the platform of the Peking University-Golden Feather Advanced Battery Joint Laboratory for the innovation and transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

Huang Dubin provided an overview of the research and development, as well as the industrialization efforts of Golden Feather's anode-free lithium metal batteries and other products. He also pointed out the construction of the joint laboratory. Huang Dubin expressed the company's desire to continue leveraging the university's scientific research foundation and advanced characterization testing platform for further in-depth research on new energy, particularly focusing on the mechanisms within the field of new energy.

Zou Ruqiang presented an overview of MSE, Peking University, highlighting the progress in industry-university-research collaborations. He specifically introduced the scientific and technological achievement transformation projects within advanced carbon materials, new energy materials, optoelectronic materials, and new structural materials. Zou Ruqiang expressed the hope that the establishment of the joint laboratory would serve as a catalyst to further enhance the quality of industry-university-research collaborations within MSE.

During the discussion session, representatives from participating companies and faculty members engaged in in-depth exchanges on key technologies in solar cells, lithium-sulfur battery materials, and other fields and its research, development, and industrial transformation. The discussions also delved into market prospects and future development directions. All participants expressed their hope that the establishment of the laboratory would serve as an opportunity for all involved parties to leverage their respective strengths and achieve mutually beneficial cooperation.

Finally, the guests witnessed the opening ceremony of the joint laboratory and took photos together.
