·Ph.D. received from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium in 1991.

·Director of theScience and Technology Committee at Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials (BIAM).

·Director of the National Key Laboratory of Advanced Composites (LAC).

·Deputy Director of the Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials (BIAM).

·Elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2011.

Research Interests andDirections:

AcademicianXiangbao Chenhas long been engaged in research onadvanced composite materialswithhigh-toughness at high-temperature, low-temperature curing high-performance andintegrated structural function for wave absorption. He has developed simulation optimization and automated laying-up technologies for composite material manufacturing, improved the performance and manufacturing technology level of resin-based composite materials, which hasbeen widely used in the development of advanced fighter jets, transport aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and other projects, providing strong support for the development of China's aeronautical equipment.

According to the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineeringin April of 2020, AcademicianXiangbao Chenhas published more than 100 papers, authored or translated 11 books,and more than 30 authorized patents.
