On November 15, 2023, Clarivate Analytics, a leading global provider of professional information and analysis services, unveiled its annual global roster of “Highly-Cited Researchers” for 2023. The list comprises 6,849 researchers hailing from 67 countries and regions worldwide, encompassing highly influential scientists across diverse fields.

The number of scientists from Mainland China featured on the list continues to rise steadily, with the count of selected scientists increasing from 1,169 in 2022 (constituting 16.2% of the total) to 1,275 this year (representing 17.9% of the total). Among the universities in Mainland China, Peking University stands out, boasting 40 members named on the list, including an impressive cohort of 13 people from the School of Materials Science and Engineering.
