School of Materials Science and Engineering(PKU), Visited National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University

In 2024,MSEwill continue to implement its international development strategy, promoting comprehensive openness and cooperation in education. At the beginning of the new year, from January 22 to January 23, 2024, Assistant Dean Lei Ting, Researcher and Director of the International Cooperation Office Zhao Xiaoxu, and their delegation visited the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

On January 22, Assistant Dean Lei Ting and his delegation visited the National University of Singapore(NUS). They held substantive discussions on scientific research cooperation and student exchange visits with Professor Wu Jie, Head of the Graduate Program of the Department of Chemistry, Provost’sChair Professor Chen Wei, Professor Gong Jiangbin, Dean of the Department of Physics, and Professor Wang Qinghai, Deputy Dean of the Departmentof Physics.Theyagreed to engage in in-depth cooperation in scientific research and education in the future.

02|VisittotheCentre forAdvanced 2D Materials,NUS


In 2014, the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore awarded the NUSa grant of 50 million Singapore dollars. This grant supports the operating costs of the CA2DM laboratory, micro-nano processing facilities, and the exploration, synthesis, and development of new equipment based on two-dimensional materials, most notably graphene, over the next 10 years. As a result, the Centre for Advanced 2D Materials was established.

On January 23, Assistant Dean Lei Ting and his delegation visited the School of Materials Science and Engineering,Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. They met with Professor Ng Kee Woei(Vice Dean), Professor Hng Huey Hoon(Vice Dean), Professor Li Shuzhou(Assistant Dean), and Professor Liu Zheng. Theyengaged in an in-depth discussion on talent training and academic research cooperation, expressing their anticipation of strengthening cooperation and jointly promoting the development of materials disciplines in both countries.

Nanyang Technological University established Singapore’s first materials engineering degree program in 1991.TheSchoolof MaterialsScience and Engineeringwas upgraded to a full engineering school in 2000. Today, it has grown into one of the largest materials engineering institutions globally, with more than 700 undergraduates and more than 200 postgraduates.The school has an international faculty team, advanced research laboratories and extensive global partners.
